SUMMARY:Sled Hockey
DESCRIPTION:October 25 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm\nHot Shot Ice Arena\, 29860 N Skokie Hwy\, Lake Bluff\, IL\, 60044\, United States\n\nView DetailsRegister\n+ Add to Google Calendar+ iCal / Outlook\n\nSled hockey follows most of the typical ice hockey rules with the exception of some of the equipment. Players sit in specially designed sleds that sit on top of two hockey skate blades. There are two sticks for each player instead of one and the sticks have metal pics on the butt end for players to propel themselves. GLASA provides all hockey gear (pads\, jersey\, socks\, gloves\, helmet\, guards) and equipment (sled and sticks) needed to play. Assistants are available to support athletes who may not be able to self-propel on the ice.\nYouth\, Teen & Adult (Ages 7+)\nWheelchair & Ambulatory\nPractice are held in Lake Bluff\, IL on Sundays. Youth practices from 1-1:45pm; Adults practice from 1-3pm. Please check your SportsPlus app for the most up-to-date practice sessions. \nListed by GLASA. View details / register \n\nAbout this event\nSled Hockey is featured on the Project Awaken Get Active calendar as part of adaptive sports and recreation programs from the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA)\, which supports athletes with physical and visual disabilities from first-timers to Paralympians. Project Awaken brings together listings from trusted Chicago-area partners so people with spinal cord injuries\, mobility disabilities\, and visual impairments can find welcoming ways to get active\, connect with others\, and try something new. \nEvents like this typically welcome participants of varying abilities along with their families\, friends\, sighted guides\, and volunteers\, and many are free to attend. If you are new to adaptive sports or recreation\, it helps to reach out to the host organization ahead of time with any access questions\, ask whether specialized equipment is provided\, and bring a companion if that makes you more comfortable. Taking that first step\, showing up\, asking\, trying\, is what getting active is all about. \nPlease confirm the date\, time\, location\, cost\, and any registration requirements on the official event or organizer page before attending\, as details can change. To find more opportunities\, explore our full events calendar\, browse Get Active grants and resources\, or join the Get Connected peer-support community. \n\nExplore adaptive sports programsAdaptive Cycling in ChicagoAdaptive Track Running & Wheelchair Racing in ChicagoAdaptive & Para Powerlifting in ChicagoAdaptive Track & Field in ChicagoYouth Adaptive Tennis in ChicagoAdaptive & Wheelchair Tennis in ChicagoAdaptive Swimming Lessons in ChicagoAdaptive Shooting Sports (Air Rifle) in ChicagoAdaptive Roller Workout: Virtual Wheelchair Racing TrainingAdaptive Conditioning & Fitness (Live or Virtual)Wheelchair Football in Chicago: Chicago Bears Adaptive Team
