Action Is the Cure
Hi, I’m Jenny Kraft, founder of Project Awaken. I use a wheelchair, and I’ve learned one truth the hard way: action is the cure. Not waiting. Not wishing. Not waiting for permission or for the “right” day. Getting active gave me back my confidence, my community, and my sense of what’s possible — and I built Project Awaken so it could do the same for you.
Take the First Step
You don’t have to be an athlete. You don’t have to be fearless. You just have to be willing to start. Roll to the end of the block. Sign up for one adaptive sports class. Show up to a single event on our Get Active calendar. Send one email that asks, “Can I try?” Momentum isn’t something you’re born with — it’s built one small, stubborn act of courage at a time.
Do Something. Then Do One More Thing.
When you move your body, you remind your mind who’s in charge. When you join a team, you stop being the only one. When you try the thing you were certain you couldn’t do, you rewrite the story you’ve been telling yourself. Every rep, every lap, every “yes” chips away at the fear and isolation that keep so many of us on the sidelines. So do something today — and tomorrow, do one more thing.
Now Inspire Someone Else
Here’s the secret no one tells you: the moment you take action, you become someone else’s reason to begin. Your story — the hard days, the small wins, the comeback no one saw coming — is the exact spark another person in our community is waiting for. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just have to be honest about the journey.
Share Your Story
I want to feature you. Tell me what you’re doing to get active, how you got here, or the moment everything changed. I promise to share these stories right here on this website to motivate others searching for the courage to start. Fill out the form below — your words could be the push someone else needs today.
